Myrtle House, Mickleton
The accommodation

Myrtle House is a prominent building on the High Street of
Mickleton, a picturesque village on the northern gateway to the Cotswolds.
Partly Georgian, partly Victorian and with a little bit of 17th century
as well, the building extends back from its central location opposite the
village green to a secluded walled garden at the back.
The house is full of character, with large, airy rooms, flagstone floors and a comfortable style that comes from more than two hundred years of habitation! Where necessary, the house has been tastefully modernised, without spoiling its appeal. Myrtle House is a Listed building (recognition the property has particular architectural or historical interest).
and for breakfast!

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day so why
not have a healthy local one.The porridge is baked over night in the slow oven
of the aga so beautifully creamy for the morning with a large selection of
toppings to suit every taste. The rest of the cooked breakfast, apart from the
eggs, is all healthily baked in the oven thus ensuring a full flavour.
Why not come and sample it?
Question and answers
- Whats your favourite breakfast?
- In the Summer, the best breakfast has to be own grown Strawberries, Blackberries and Raspberries on a bed of local natural yoghurt and crunchy, tropical muesli. On busy days, a delicious fruit smoothie is just the trick! Winter calls for a big bowl of creamy porridge that has been simmering in the Aga oven all night long, with banana and maple syrup. Keith is partial to the Kippers and eggs no matter what the season.
- What did you do before becoming a landlady/landlord?
- My background is in IT and Finance and I have worked for Banks in South Africa, Ireland as well as the UK. I have retrained in Preschool Education and have also worked in the care industry which has meant a logical step into the hospitality sector which I am loving.
- Where did you last go on holiday?
- Keith, Josh and I had the privilege of visiting The Dominican Republic last year and thoroughly enjoyed the sun, sea, horseriding and the highlight of course was swimming with the dolphins. South Africa is always a popular destination for us as well, not only because of its natural beauty but to see my family and friends. Within the UK, we enjoy Northumberland when Keith gets to go home to Newcastle.
- What do you enjoy most about running a B&B?
- As I have travelled far from home, I feel it is vital to give guests that warm, homely welcome and it is always fascinating to hear about their tales and experiences. Having Myrtle House filled with happy people makes it all worthwhile and is part of what gives Myrtle her remarkable character she is a happy home!
- How long have you been running your B&B?
- An entire three months which have been challenging but also incredibly fulfilling we look forward to many, many happy years and even more happy guests
